PLAN YOUR REQUEST
Tell us what is coming out
A full unit and a collection of selected items need different plans. Include a rough box count, the larger furniture and any items needing particular handling. If some belongings are staying, identify what must be collected before the day. A list or clearly labelled items helps avoid confusion when the unit is opened.
Who will open the unit?
Give us the facility name and postcode, then ask the provider how collection should be authorised. Check loading hours, any booked slot and whether you must be there in person. Agree who will identify the items and meet the crew. Keep access codes and account passwords out of the public form; arrange sensitive access details through the agreed contact.
Delivery to a house, flat or apartment
At your destination, tell us about stairs, lift access and parking. If a large item needs dismantling before it can fit through the entrance, raise that when requesting the quote. Let us know which address and rooms the belongings are going to, and whether anyone will be available to receive the delivery.
Storage collections for offices and students
The destination does not have to be a house. We can review deliveries to offices, shops and university accommodation too. Include reception hours, loading bay rules or a booked move-in slot. For students returning after a break, make sure your accommodation is ready to accept the belongings on the proposed delivery date.
Moving between storage facilities
If the new destination is another storage unit, choose Between storage facilities on the same form. Include both facility names and postcodes. Access must be arranged at both ends, and the items need to fit the destination unit. Ask the new facility to confirm the available space before you commit to moving everything.
Before you close your storage account
Check the provider's notice period and handover procedure before choosing the final collection date. Emptying a unit may not end the storage charges that day. Ask what needs to be returned, who checks the unit and when the agreement ends. Keep the provider informed if your transport date changes, and tell us if the facility changes your collection slot.
Check the items before the unit is handed back
Use your inventory to check which boxes and furniture are leaving. If you are emptying the unit, allow time to look for items on shelves or behind larger furniture, and confirm the facility's handover procedure. If you are keeping some belongings there, separate them from the collection. Report a missing item or a change to the collection list before the crew leaves, rather than waiting until delivery.
An example enquiry
You need a bed, desk and six boxes brought from storage to university accommodation, while the rest stay in the unit. List those items, arrange access with the facility and add your accommodation's delivery times and floor.
Use this example as a guide to the details you can include in your own request.
